Ayurveda 101
Ayurveda (“science of life”) is a 5,000 year old medical science about the body, mind and spirit, emotions and ways of thinking for health, longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization.
Ayurveda is the most sophisticated of ancient health systems based on the theory of 5 elements making up everything in the universe, nature and within us
It believes good health is a balance and illness is an excess or deficiency of doshas, which can be treated by herbal remedies, exercises, diet, yoga, massage, aromatherapy, meditation This course is for those who are keen on health and immunity
Mental Health for Elderly
This course is for caregivers and those with persistent grief and anxiety issues. Ayurveda looks at mind, body, soul and senses as parts of a human being.
Ayurvedic medicine seeks balance through limitless ways to help a person heal that don’t require a prescription. A few of the primary areas:
Routine – Even if it’s just a small part of your day, routine is at the core of successful ayurvedic interventions. The idea here is to give your brain a time to rest where it isn’t constantly trying to decide what to do next.
Yoga (or mindful movement) - a special kind of movement that connects the mind and body in a way many other physical practices aren’t able to.
Diet – The sort of qualities you’ll want to look for in food depend on what you are trying to balance according to your particular constitution and the season.
Ayurvedic Nutrition & Cooking
Unlike western nutrition science which is standardized, based on calories, food costituents, Ayurveda takes into account bio availability by effect of digestion. Ayurvedic diet is individualized and it's aim is not only cosmetic but health as well
Learn about prakriti and the imbalances of three doshas and how to alter the foods you consume and changes to lifestyle for good health
This course is to enable you to understand the science behind many age old practices and adopt new ones for better health
Making Yoga Work
While parts of Yoga have been adopted widely, a lot remains unknown. Yoga and Ayurveda are 5000 year old sister sciences of healing and medicine based on Sankhya school of philosophy. Yoga is described as a state beyond conscious understanding enabling Prana (vital energy of the Universe and body) to flow freely through the eight Chakras and 9 apertures of our pranic body.
Yogasutras talk of practices - Yamas and Niyamas (eightfold path) to calm the mind through concentration, meditation and absorption. The deep yogic awareness is as important as the asanas. Learning the principles of Yamas and Niyamas will help maximize your health benefits from yoga.
Is meditation for me
Meditation is a popular part of many health sciences, yet it's often confused with mindfulness. Regular meditation is to relate to our true nature, the consciousness and prana. A large part of our mind is unconscious or subconscious, containing most of our memories and emotions gets negatively conditioned, trapping us in Karmic compulsions.
A higher level of consciousness helps overcome these negative aspects and escape the trap. Yogic meditation is not a examination but one of the many ways to be aware and discern that heals us of negative patterns at a deeper level than we could by expressing or suppressing them.
